Sophia Roland is a sophomore at Edmond North High School, and she is already reaching for her dreams.
Sophia went to Vogue Summer School in New York City this past summer—a program for people interested in fashion, media, and luxury lifestyle industries.
Sophia was inspired to research Vogue Summer School when she saw a post on TikTok. Because of her love of fashion, she knew she wanted to do it.
Sophia recounted, “I learned so many interesting and valuable things but one of my favorites is called the PESTLE analysis. It stands for ‘political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal,’ and it’s used to identify the factors that influence a business and its strategy to remain relevant.”
Sophia enjoyed a taste of New York City living while living in the Pace University dorms in Manhattan. She attended morning lectures, saw the behind the scenes of big brands and magazines in the afternoon and in her free time, she would explore the city by foot, Uber and riding the subway.
Sophia says the experience was unforgettable.
“We got to see Vogue’s September magazine before it was out,” she said. “It was such a cool experience.”
Going to NYC allowed Sophia to make cherished memories, meet great people and see the behind the scenes of so many extraordinary things.
Beyond just fashion, the trip taught Sophia an important life lesson: take chances.
“Put yourself out there and do not be shy,” Sophia says.
Even though it may be nerve-racking to try news things, putting yourself out there can be very rewarding.

Sophia is an inspiration in how she already started pursuing what she wanted. I went to NYC once and it was also amazing! It’s very cool that she could pursue what she wanted so early. I agree that putting yourself out there is hard, but most of the time is worth it. I like this article and how it focuses on someone and their experiences!

I think that is very cool that Sophia took this opportunity! I think taking risks is a good thing because you will never know if you never try. Going out of your comfort zone is the only way to grow. I also love traveling to states, so I think this would be so fun! I hope others get opportunities like this.

I think that this is a really cool experience to have. I love how she put herself out there and made new memories that she’ll never forget. I never knew that something like this was a thing that you could go to. Even if she decides it’s not something she wants to do in the future still getting to learn everything and see the behind the scenes is something not many people get to do. I know this is something that she’ll remember forever.

This was such an intriguing article! I had no idea about Sophia’s trip to Vogue in New York, and it sounds like such a cool experience for teens. I think it is definitely important to start reaching for your dreams as a young person. Sophia’s story is so inspiring to this generation, showing that some work can help your future be successful from a young age. This article has inspired me to look for ways that I can pursue my dream as a high school student as well.
