On October 19 at 9:30 a.m., four thieves robbed the Louvre in Paris. The thieves used a truck with a mechanical lift to gain access to a balcony where they cut through a window.
The robbers took nine pieces of valuable and historic jewelry in less than 10 minutes before escaping on electric scooters.

The Louvre closed for the rest of the day, and there are now over 60 investigators on the case, but no arrests have been made. Paris officials have called it ‘the heist of the century.’
Investigators believe that this was the work of professionals because the robbery took seven minutes and was executed in one of the most seemingly secure buildings in France.
This theft took social media by storm with many people finding amusement in this event.
Several commenters on TikTok described it as “chic” or “aesthetic to rob a Paris exhibit in autumn,” with others saying “heists are so back.” Many users compared the crime to well-known films and TV shows such as “Lupin,” “Money Heist” and “Ocean’s 8,” which also feature elaborate robberies.
In a climate of political and social unrest and division, many social-media users come together to share humor in this incident.
“No one was harmed. No hate was involved. Just good old-fashioned greed,” one TikTok user commented.
The manhunt for the thieves continues, but as of now, they remain at large.
