With Halloween coming up soon, many people are putting together last minute costumes. However, some people don’t have the funds to put together crazy outfits, but they still want to participate in the festivities. If you are personally having this problem—read on to discover what costumes won’t break your bank.
#1- Mummy

An easy classic—all you need for this costume is an all white outfit and some toilet paper. Grab a friend and have them wrap you up; then, slap some tape over the tp to make sure it sticks. A single roll of toilet paper is priced around the $1 mark, so this costume is definitely budget friendly.
#2- Kim Possible

Kim Possible is a beloved cartoon character, a super easy Halloween costume and you probably have all the pieces in your closet already. All you need is green pants and a black shirt. If you want to go the extra mile, line your top lip with a dark red lip liner to give yourself the classic Kim Possible-look.
#3- House Pets

This may be boring, but if you’re balling on a budget, sometimes boring is better than nothing. This costume is super easy to do—all you need to do is wear a solid color such as black, brown or grey and get a pair of dog or cat ears which are around $3-5. As basic as it is, it’s still cute and frugal.
#4- A Lumberjack

Now this one may be the best on this list. All you need is some type of flannel and jeans, which should already be in your closet. If you really want to amp up the lumberjack vibe, grab an ax (at your caution) or a piece of wood from the forest. Lastly, draw on a mustache, and you are all set.
#5- Jesus

If you really want to impress people with your creativity, dressing up as Jesus will surely win you that. All you need is a blanket to drape across yourself to look like a toga, some sandals and a drawn on beard. If you have long hair this is the perfect opportunity to let it flow.
We hope this guide to cheap costumes is helpful. If you were inspired by this article or if you have any other suggestions for frugal outfits for this holiday, drop a comment below. Happy Halloween!

These are awesome. I am the kind of person who forgets that halloween costumes are a thing until the 30th so fast ideas are much appreciated. Also, thank you for mentioning to add tape to the toilet paper for the mummy costume. I have seen so many articles saying “oh, it’s easy, you just need toilet paper! Don’t worry!” without mentioning the fact that without reinforcement, the toilet paper will rip if someone even looks at it too hard. (Yes, this is coming from experience. No, I don’t want to talk about it.)
Either way, with school taking up most of my time, it’s nice to have a handful of ideas that i don’t have to worry about. Thanks Huskies!

I love these ideas! Its crazy because I am already being Kim Possible, I got the green cargo pants a couple of years ago and knew exactly who I was going to be for Halloween the next year! If you really want to go the extra mile with the Kim Possible outfit then put some red or orange spray paint in your hair with a side part and you are great to go!! It is super fun to be Kim Possible especially if someone knows who you are. Not many people know who Kim Possible is and that just crazy to me! Cheap costumes are always super fun to do.

I love these costumes! I definitely know that some people don’t participate in Halloween festivities because of the money. I hope that these costumes help people be able to participate in such a fun tradition! I personally love the Jesus costume; it made me laugh. Another cheap costume I thought of would be a ghost; you just need a sheet and some scissors! Happy Halloween!

I loved this article! I feel like Halloween can be overlooked by Christmas so I’m glad that it got wrote about. I love how even if you can’t afford to have a big fancy costume you can still participate in many ways. I love that you even gave ideas on how people can participate if they’re stuck in this situation. Many people don’t realize how much fun this could be to make one and how cute they could turn out!

I really liked this article. I thought it was a super fun and unique idea. It is also a great topic with Halloween right around the corner. My favorite by far has to be the Jesus costume. However all of them are super fun and easy costumes, and are some great last minute things to throw together.

I love how descriptive you were when telling us about the costume. I didn’t really know what to be for Halloween this year because I’m a little tight on money right now, but this kind of gave me some ideas. The Jesus costume idea was really funny because it reminded me of when I was younger and I saw a vine. Maybe my girlfriend and I can be Kim Possible and someone else. Also, the “baby practicing saving money…” made me laugh.

These costumes are great ideas. I really like how they are budget friendly so anyone can dress up this Halloween. My favorite was the mummy because it is a classic. I don’t know what I am going to dress up as this year. If I run out of time I can always go with one of these simple options.
