Hannah Yoon is the Senior Class President at Edmond North.
When Hannah was campaigning for class president, she put in the work, making sure to text everyone personally to ask for their vote. She wanted to win to improve the school and not just have another accolade for her resume.
It was extremely hard for all the candidates who ran for class president, but Hannah persevered. She was not only qualified for the position but conducted herself with humility, making sure that her opponents knew that they were just as worthy as her.
Every second of the campaign took a toll on Hannah’s mental health. During her junior year, the people Hannah surrounded herself with told her that “she was spreading herself too thin.”
She felt like her friends were incapable of messing up, while she couldn’t do anything right. When Hannah compared herself to them, that added to her stress.
After winning the campaign, she looked back and realized that no one can be perfect. Even if she didn’t win, she would still value herself and feel like she is worth something. When things were hard for Hannah, she relied on her faith to be a better person.
This year she dedicated herself to helping others with their mental health. She wants to help her fellow Huskies succeed in life and make a meaningful connection with them. Hannah found out that when you put good into the world, it will all come back to you.
