Spring break is around the corner, and not everyone is going out on a flashy vacation. Whether you’re stuck at home or unsure how to spend the rest of your week, we’ve compiled a list of places and events you might enjoy. This list contains something for everyone to make the best of your spring break.

Downtown Edmond
Downtown Edmond is relaxing, casual hangout spot for about everyone to enjoy. There are many little shops you can browse through, as well as a variety of restaurants to choose from, like the Mule or Othellos. Downtown also has the Railyard, an outside patio space surrounded by restaurants that has games and sometimes outdoor music.

Heard on Hurd
Every Saturday during March, downtown Edmond hosts the very popular Heard on Hurd event. During Heard on Hurd, a number of food trucks and pop-up antique booths line the streets downtown. There is live music, a lively environment and it is a great place to hang out with your friends.

Pickleball
Have some fun at The Kickingbird Tennis Court, a free court where you can play pickleball. There are lots of courts for however many people you want to bring. The sport is easy to get into and for everyone to understand, so bring your paddles or rackets and have a great time under the sun by playing intense or easy-going games with friends and family.

Parks
If you like to be outdoors, a trip to the park will elevate your break. Mitch and Hafer Park are two popular parks in Edmond. Both parks have lengthy walking trails and two playgrounds, as well as basketball courts and fitness parks. Hafer Park has its own rock wall and a duck pond. Mitch has its own skate park and the YMCA where you can partake in swimming or indoor basketball.

Unpluggits
If you’re in a crafty mood, Unpluggits will be your sanctuary this break. This ceramic and craft painting studio provides a relaxing getaway to create what you desire. You have the option to paint or form a ceramic piece that the studio will fire for you. Crafts typically cost around $8-$40. Unpluggits also has activities like air hockey, light tables, and puppet stages.

The Claw Factory
Willing to test your luck? Head down to the Claw Factory, a store filled with claw machines of all kinds. The machines only cost a dollar per turn, which is much better than you’d find at an arcade spot. The machines mainly consist of fun, kiddy stuffed animals, but they have other toys you can get from the machines too. The environment is very friendly, and you’re sure to have a blast.

Lucky Coyote 5k
Start your break with a jog in the heart of Oklahoma City. The Lucky Coyote 5k race falls on Mar. 16, the Sunday right before St. Patrick’s Day. The race runs through Midtown to Heritage Hills, spanning a variety of neighborhoods and fancy homes. For only a little more than $40, you can participate in the race as well as get a free t-shirt for participation. This year, the race is embracing the holiday that follows it, so make sure you show up in your greenest attire.
Make sure you let us know what you’re doing this spring break!
