With the holiday spirit in full swing, the Pawprint staff has compiled a list of Christmas-based hot or nots. It may be cold outside, but many of the characters on this list are as hot as a steaming mug of hot cocoa.
Conductor, “The Polar Express”
The Conductor from “The Polar Express,” played by Tom Hanks, is one of the most recognizable Christmas movie characters. He is a man who knows what he wants: to ensure that the express reaches the North Pole promptly.
While the animation looks a bit uncanny at times, The Conductor is a character with a winning personality and passion and a marvelous mustache. He isn’t even a whisker away from not getting the first HOT from us!
Ebenezer Scrooge, “Scrooge: A Christmas Carol”
Usually, Scrooge would be an automatic not for us due to his well-known general grumpiness, but “Scrooge: A Christmas Carol” on Netflix has made us pause.
Ebenezer Scrooge is a cranky old man who takes his anger out on his clerk, Bob Cratchit. And through some Christmas magic, he goes through a life-altering journey that spits him out as a better person than he was before. While he has a ways to go to make up for his less-than-merry behavior, he is capable of change which is a very hot trait to have.
What makes Scrooge different in this rendition is not just his new look but also his voice. “Scrooge: A Christmas Carol” is a musical that highlights the amazing voice of Luke Evans, so for those reasons and the fact that this Scrooge is extremely good-looking, we say HOT.
Grinch, “The Grinch”
The Grinch falls under the same shtick as Scrooge does. Through his story, he goes from being a bitter Christmas hater to someone with an appreciation for the holidays and a will to spread Christmas joy. Additionally, Max the dog accompanies the Grinch in their musty, cold cave at the top of a mountain, and having a dog is a win in our book.
He also shows a deep care for children, which is a great trait; however, one glaring issue arises. Despite shaping out to be a nice person with a small heart that grows three sizes, he is a hairy green humanoid cat-thing. Sadly, his personality can’t compensate for his hairiness and unfortunate housing situation.
Due to this, we say NOT!
Buddy the Elf, “Elf”
Buddy the Elf is one of the most lovable Christmas movie characters out there. He has an eccentric personality due to his upbringing at the North Pole. Though he has his moments of cluelessness, it’s clear the pseudo-elf values his family and friends, and who wouldn’t want to be with a Christmas Hero?
With so few negative aspects, we say Buddy the Elf is HOT.
Harry and Marv, “Home Alone”
Harry and Marv, aka “The Wet Bandits”, are the antagonists of the Christmas classic “Home Alone” They spend the entirety of the movie attempting to break into and rob the McCallister’s home. Even if Harry’s gold tooth is mighty appealing, their bumbling inability to even outsmart a literal child does them no favors as well. Their incompetence is just pitiful, albeit entertaining.
We give them some points for being comedic, but that doesn’t make up for their motives. We wouldn’t trust these two not to take something from our own houses or pickpocket us.
Terrorizing children and attempting to break into someone’s house is NOT hot.
Boss Elf, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”
The Boss Elf in “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” is your average old-fashioned corporate boss, but instead of holding a normal corporate position, he oversees Santa’s Elves. While his work ethic is admirable, his rudeness towards wannabe dentist Hermey the Misfit Elf is unacceptable. He continuously puts down Hermey and is complacent in the subtle workplace teasing that Hermey’s coworkers put him through.
While Boss Elf ends up allowing Hermey to open a dentistry office, it can be interpreted as him simply wanting free dental care, and for this, we say NOT.
And that’s our verdict on which Christmas characters are hot or not. If you want to see more of our past picks, you should check out our Halloween edition.
